Blackjack
Rules
The object in
Blackjack is to accumulate cards with point totals as close to 21
as possible without going over 21. Face cards (Jacks, Queens and
Kings) are worth 10 points. Aces are worth 1 or 11, whichever is
preferable. Other cards are represented by their number.
If you and
the dealer tie, it is a push and no one wins. Ace and 10 (Blackjack)
on the first two cards dealt is an automatic player win which pays
3 to 2, unless the dealer ties.
To win you
need to beat the dealer without busting. You bust when your cards
total more than 21. You automatically lose when you bust. The winner
is whoever is the closest to a total of 21.
Before receiving
any cards you must place a wager. You can place a wager by pressing
the Chip buttons. You can clear a wager by pressing the Clear button.
Once your wager
is placed, press the Deal button to start a new hand. You will be
dealt two cards face up. The dealer gets one card face up, one face
down. You then either stand or take more cards to try to get closer
to 21 without busting. When you are done, the dealer turns up his
down card. By rule, on counts of 17 or higher the dealer must stand;
on counts of 16 or lower the dealer must hit.
If you make
a total of 21 with the first two cards (a 10 or a face card and
an Ace), you win automatically. This is called 'Blackjack'. If you
have Blackjack, you will win one and one-half times your bet unless
the dealer also has Blackjack, in which case it is a Push and you
get your bet back.
If you don't
get blackjack, but get a higher count than the dealer then you win
an amount equal to your bet. If you get a lower count than the dealer
then you lose your bet. If the dealer busts, but you do not, then
you win.
If the dealer's
face up card is an Ace, then you have the option to buy insurance.
This is a bet against the dealer having a natural 21. The amount
of the bet is one half of the original bet. If the dealer has a
10 face down then insurance pays 2 to 1 odds, but loses if the dealer
does not.
Pressing the
Double Down button will double your initial bet following the initial
two card deal, but you will only be dealt one additional card.
If you are
initially dealt two cards of equal value, then you can split the
cards into two hands by pressing the Split button. Your original
bet will be doubled with an equal amount placed on each hand. If
you are splitting aces then only one additional card will be dealt
per hand.
